Traumatized girl meets bad boy. Mantan cewek populer yang mendadak terkucil pacaran sama cowok bandel tapi karismatik tapi nggak songong. Shock yang membuat memori atas kejadian traumatis terblokir. Teman-teman semasa populer yang so bitchy.

Tipikal.

Setelah baca Perfect Chemistry (Simone Elkeles), Almost (Anne Elliot), Gabriel’s Inferno (Sylvain Reynard), jujur aku jadi jenuh baca romance dengan formula seperti ini, terutama yang genre YA (Gabriel’s bukan YA, sih). Rasanya waktu baca halaman demi halaman Pushing The Limits ini aku nggak menemukan sesuatu yang baru.

Tambahan lagi penyebab trauma Echoe (ditandai bekas luka sayatan di pergelangan tangannya) yang sengaja dijadikan faktor pemancing buat pembaca ternyata…yah…cuma begitu aja (spoiler). Dan makin ke ujung makin rasa sinetron kalau menurutku.

Dari sisi romance dua tokoh utamanya, Echoe dan Noah, aku juga gagal merasakan chemistry di antara mereka.

Intinya aku nggak menemukan sesuatu yang spesial dari realistic fiction yang satu ini.

Tapi aku cukup tertarik baca sekuelnya, Crossing The Line (Pushing The Limist #1.1), Dare You To (Pushing The Limist #2), dan Crash Into You (Pushing The Limist #3) yang bercerita tentang romance tokoh-tokoh sampingan di Pushing The Limits, yaitu Beth, Lila, dan Isaiah.
